This study primarily represents a collaborative effort between researchers and in-service teachers in designing teaching activities and developing history of mathematics lesson plans for primary and secondary school students. At first, we studied and analyzed relevant literature documents for 12-year basic education to identify available and valuable materials. The development of lesson plans was followed by a validity check, on-site teaching, and result evaluation. The research aimed to collect, discuss, and investigate the related history of mathematics literature to develop materials and resources for teaching in primary and secondary schools the following topics: Ptolemy´s theorem and trigonometric identities, the greatest common factor, fractions and decimals. The research process and results demonstrated that the developed history of mathematics materials had a positive effect on the students and also displayed the feasibility of integrating the history of mathematics into primary and secondary school mathematics teaching. We hope this study can provide valuable information to practitioners in mathematics education and enrich the database for the history of mathematics.
