Ethical Norms The duties of the Editorial Committee: Taiwan Journal of Mathematics Education is a periodical jointly issued by the Department of Mathematics of National Taiwan Normal University and Taiwan Association of Mathematics Education whose contents focus on publication of original essays on topics related to the mathematics education field, providing a publication and exchange platform of academic research results for researchers in relevant professional fields. The committee reviewers and contributors of all the contributions shall be mutually anonymous. The Editorial Committee members bear the confidential responsibility for the materials of authors and contribution reviewers. The editorial assistants shall contact authors with revision or administrative matters of essays. All the contributions can only be published for subsequent editing and printing after passing the review of the Editorial Committee. The order of contribution publication shall be determined by the chief editor according to contribution quality and contributing time in principle. The number of contributions of the first author shall not exceed one, and the exceeded contributions shall be published in the next periodical. If the journal’s chief editor, vice chief editor(s), or committee members contribute to the journal, the committee member shall avoid recommending the review committee member list, participating in determination discussion of review results, or handling materials related to personal contributions (including the materials of the reviewer, the recommended committee member list, review suggestions, etc.). The duties of committee reviewers: The committee reviewers shall strictly review the contribution conditions, such as academic originality, correctness, and values, so as to ensure the quality of published contributions. The committee reviewers can provide authors with constructive revision suggestions, facilitating the revision and quality improvement of contributions. The committee reviewers shall notice if the quotation sources and treatment of referential materials are complete, reliable, and appropriate. In determining the list of committee reviewers, the relationship between committee reviewers and authors will be especially considered (such as essay guider, relative, joint cooperation, or other interest relationship) so as to avoid inappropriate reviewers. The review of all the contributions shall be executed in a double-blind peer review process. The committee reviewers shall bear the confidential responsibility of materials of authors and contribution reviewers. The author’s duties: The author shall guarantee that the essay contents have never been published in any literary form. The contribution shall comply with the requirement of the journal’s solicited contributions. If the essay is jointly written by more than two persons, the author who signs the agreement shall inform the other co-authors. Before contributing, the author shall confirm that the regulations of copyright law are accorded with. If materials, such as others’ texts, figures, tables, or pictures, are quoted, it is necessary to obtain consent first or comply with the regulations of academic use. Author(s) bear(s) the sole responsibility of the liability arising from the published article(s) If plagiarism of works by others or oneself is involved, the contribution will not be published in the journal. As for the contributions that are required to be revised by review committee and Editorial Committee, after revision, the author shall contribute again within the time limit. The ethical norms of the journal: The journal is sponsored by National Taiwan Normal University’s R&D office, and publications for commercial purposes are not accepted. In order to respect the journal’s rights and interests, as for all the articles included and published in the journal, others must obtain the journal’s advance written consent if they attempt to reproduce, reprint, translate, or reproduce in other methods unless the author himself collects them into books for publication. Once the contribution is sent for review, withdrawal is forbidden. If there is any withdrawal application due to special reasons, it is necessary to submit it to the chief editor for determination. If the author arbitrarily withdraws the contribution not for special reasons, the author’s contribution(s) shall not be accepted in the following year. If the contribution is found to violate academic ethics, such as multiple contributions of one work and infringement of copyright, the contribution shall be rejected for publication, and all the responsibilities shall be borne by the author. Furthermore, the journal will reject the author’s contribution(s) in the following three years and claim for compensation according to the order of severity of the situation. Once the Editorial Committee accepts the report of behaviors that violate academic norms, timely, fair, professional, and confidential treatment will be conducted, and informants with good intentions will be kept confidential and protected.
